Assistant Project Manager

We are looking for a candidate to join our Development Team, who are focussed on delivering 1GW of consents by 2028 and a further 1GW by 2030. Initially working to support our project teams to deliver a number of ongoing and new Section 36 applications, before working to deliver their own applications and condition discharge activities. This position is part of our ongoing recruitment campaign and is likely to suit an existing Assistant Project Manager wish to develop their skills and experience to build up to the next step in their career in the renewable energy sector.

About Muirhall Energy: Muirhall Energy is a dynamic and innovative developer of renewable energy projects, based across the Central Belt of Scotland.

Muirhall has constructed in excess of 150MW of onshore wind projects across the UK and has achieved an industry leading planning consent success rate. We have organically grown a 4.5GW pipeline of high-quality onshore wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, at various stages of development, and our ambition is to secure at least an additional 3GW of renewable energy developments by 2030.

Continuing to grow our wind farm portfolio and breaking into complementary technologies has opened opportunities to further expand our team.

Role description: We are looking for a candidate to join our Development Team, who are focused on delivering 1GW of consents by 2028 and a further 1GW by 2030. Initially working to support our project teams to deliver a number of ongoing and new Section 36 applications, before working to deliver their own applications and condition discharge activities.  

This position is part of our ongoing recruitment campaign and is likely to suit an existing Assistant Project Manager who is wishing to develop their skills and experience to build up to the next step in their career in the renewable energy sector.

Role responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Project Team to understand the requirements of delivering a project to a high standard.

• Contribute to the decision-making across the project, making and supporting decisions in the best interest of the project.

• Lead on aspects of project management where required.

• Support the delivery of projects on time, budget, and to a high quality.

• Support the external tendering, relationship management, and review of multidisciplinary environmental consultants during the site assessment, consenting, and delivery phases of a development.

• Use available software tools to analyse sites and carry out site surveys to identify the viability for commercial wind/renewable projects.

• Use available software tools to refine maps, plans, and other map or design-based documents to improve sites and in the submission of supporting statements of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for planning applications.

• Liaising with consultants and sub-contractors as appropriate.

• Supporting and managing relationships with agreed contractors and subcontractors, ensuring invoicing is approved and contracts are managed effectively.

• Contribute and facilitate maintaining a business relationship with relevant landowner and/or tenants.

• Attend and assist in the coordination of site and community visits and meetings.

• Work closely with the Communities team to deliver excellent community engagement at every stage of a project.

• Liaise effectively with team members across the business to ensure the projects are suitably supported.

• Prepare and deliver (at meetings or by e-mail) relevant progress reports for each project managed.

• Support the undertaking of formal procedures including project registers, risk registers, programmes, etc. Ensure these are kept up to date and in sufficient detail to provide project resilience.

• Undertake document review following Document Review Policy.

• Support the preparation of information for inclusion in monthly reporting.

• Contribute to invitations to tender, tender evaluation, and contract negotiations across projects and the business.

• Ensure health and safety considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and project tasks.

• Support the interface between the project, and land and legal functions.

• Responsible for the preparation of meeting agendas and minutes and circulation with internal and external teams.

• Undertaking request for support from heads of, technical, and legal teams using the relevant request channels in a timely and comprehensive manner.

• Support teammates’ personal and professional aspirations by contributing to a positive working environment.

About You:

• At least two years of experience in the renewable energy sector

• Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of developing renewable projects

• Relevant experience preferable to qualifications
