Perthshire Schools Build Energy Literacy Through Education Partnership
Schools in Perthshire are being offered the opportunity to get involved in hands-on learning about renewable energy as a result of an educational partnership between independent Scottish renewable energy developer, Muirhall Energy, and Earth Energy Education.
The scheme, funded by Muirhall Energy, is providing pupils with an interactive, curriculum-led renewable energy workshop - showcasing the skills, technologies and career opportunities associated with the renewable energy sector.
Primary and secondary schools located close to Muirhall Energy’s proposed North Logiealmond Wind Farm have been invited to sign up for the workshops - available at no cost to the schools. Sessions have taken place at Bertha Park High School, St John’s Academy, Crieff High School, Logiealmond Primary School and Auchtergaven Primary School so far with further workshops planned at other Perthshire schools over the coming weeks.
Andrew Marshall, Senior Development Manager, commented:
“We are encouraging schools to sign up to take part in these interactive and educational workshops. We believe it is important to support education and skills development in renewables, and hope that these sessions will help young people to learn more about renewable energy and possibly even inspire them to consider a future career in the sector.
“The sessions held so far have been really successful, with lots of enthusiasm and so many brilliant thoughts shared from the pupils taking part. We hope that by working in partnership with Earth Energy Education we can help to demonstrate the broader, long-term opportunities that renewable energy developments can bring, particularly for young people.”
Lorna Lyle, Founder of Earth Energy Education commented:
“We are pleased to be working with Muirhall Energy to deliver these workshops to local schools. We hope that this initiative helps to inspire and support future skills development whilst helping young people learn more about the role of renewables in Scotland’s transition to a low carbon future.”
Muirhall Energy is working with Scone Estates to bring forward North Logiealmond Wind Farm, 11 miles northwest of Perth. The proposed 93.6MW development, comprising 13 turbines, has been subject to continued community consultation – the latest being held in January and February ahead of an upcoming application submission.
