SUCCESS FOR FOUR ONSHORE PROJECTS IN LATEST CfD AUCTION
Independent Scottish renewable energy developer, Muirhall Energy, has been awarded Contracts for Difference for four of its onshore wind projects in Scotland as part of the latest Allocation Round 7 (AR7a).
The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has awarded Muirhall Energy a CfD for Hopsrig and Loganhead Wind Farms in Dumfries and Galloway, Glen Ullinish 1 Wind Farm in the Highlands and Tormywheel Extension Wind Farm in West Lothian. The CfDs were awarded at an inflation-indexed strike price of £72.24/MWh.
Sarah McIntosh, Managing Director of Muirhall Energy commented:
“We welcome today’s AR7a announcement, which confirms that Muirhall Energy has successfully secured contracts for four onshore wind farm projects, amounting to a potential installed capacity of 143.3MW. These results help to underpin Muirhall Energy's ongoing commitment to deliver renewable energy projects across the country, creating long-term, tangible economic and social benefits.
“As one of the cheapest and most established renewables technologies, onshore wind will continue to play a critical role in the UK’s energy mix, providing good value for the public purse and supporting greater home-grown energy security, decarbonisation and economic growth. We hope that future CfD auction rounds continue to be enabling, and cost reflective, to support further onshore wind deployment in the UK."
