LOCAL RESIDENTS INVITED TO VIEW REDUCED PROPOSALS
Independent Scottish renewable energy developer, Muirhall Energy, is set to host three public events to showcase revised proposals for North Logiealmond Wind Farm prior to planning submission. The project, located approximately 18 km north-west of Perth, on land owned by Scone Estates, has been subject to five public consultation events to date, held across November 2024 and May 2025.
The plans that will be on display at the events are substantially reduced from the original proposal and were directly informed by feedback shared through the consultation process to date. The initial 20 turbine layout has been reduced to 13 and now involves varying sizes of turbines at 180 m and 200 m tip heights - minimising visual impact locally.
Local residents are encouraged to attend the forthcoming events, where they will have the opportunity to meet with members of the Muirhall Energy team, use new interactive tools to examine how the plans have changed in response to feedback and have their questions answered.
Andrew Marshall, Senior Development Manager at Muirhall Energy, commented:
“We look forward to welcoming local residents to our forthcoming public exhibitions. These events provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about how our plans have changed, have any questions answered and to provide feedback.
“While the proposals for North Logiealmond Wind Farm are expected to make a substantial contribution to our country's national energy security and decarbonisation goals, the project is also expected to deliver a range of local and regional benefits too. This includes construction jobs and supply chain opportunities, an operational community benefit fund equating to £650,000 per year, alongside an opportunity for up to 10% community shared ownership.”
The events are scheduled to take place:
Thursday 22nd January, 3 pm – 7 pm - Bankfoot Church Centre, Tulliebelton Rd, Bankfoot, PH1 4BS
Wednesday 28th January 3 pm – 7 pm - Chapelhill Hall, Logiealmond, PH1 3TH
Tuesday 3rd February 3 pm – 7 pm - Birnam Arts & café, Station Rd, Birnam, PH8 0DS
William, Viscount Stormont, Scone Palace & Estates, added:
“We have listened to the feedback from previous consultations, taken action and made changes to our original proposal. We look forward to having an open dialogue with residents and feel it is important that they have the opportunity to review the plans and understand the details as well as the strategic and economic reasons for the project.
“The project is a significant step for energy transition within the Perth and Kinross area, and we are proud to be championing an alternative energy project. North Logiealmond Windfarm will secure the future of Scone Estates & Perth Racecourse and significantly enhance our local economic impact."
